Supporting communities in Africa

Our own Group Director – Project & Offshore, Reidar Evensen, recently traveled to the border of Rwanda, Uganda, and Congo. He took this adventure as an opportunity to make an impact on the communities he encountered.

While exploring the region, he visited several villages and an orphanage, meeting many locals along the way. Unfortunately, many children in these areas face significant challenges, from a lack of education to inadequate healthcare. Knowing this would be the case, he arranged together with Marinetrans Norway to bring essential supplies to these communities.

Bringing footballs, clothes, medical supplies, sanitary items, and toys, he made his way through the villages. One of his most memorable stops was at a Batwa settlement. The Batwa, an Indigenous group that traditionally lived in the jungle, have faced many challenges in recent years. By bringing clothes and other supplies, he was able to support this community.

After handing out the supplies at an orphanage, he had the honor of joining the children for a football match. The game was a highlight for everyone—smiles, laughter, and cheers filled the air. All the gifts were well received, and the orphanage manager seemed very grateful. The excitement and smiles of the children made the experience unforgettable.

Reidar’s journey was about more than travel; we’re incredibly proud of his efforts. At Marinetrans, we believe in supporting communities, both near and far, and stories like this inspire us to continue finding ways to give back.
