Operational Account Manager Rotterdam

Overview

  • The correct execution of the operational process.
  • Collaborating with colleagues, customers and vendors, and being team players.
  • Implementing and applying quality and environment rules (ISO) and safety rules and working according to Marinetrans procedures and instructions.
  • Working in accordance with international and national legislation.
  • Providing high quality of service to customers. Aim for satisfaction and retention of customers and a strong market reputation.
  • Shipping ship spares for high end vessel owners, ship management companies and more.
  • Supporting offshore campaigns, vessel construction projects, energy-related projects and other complex project logistics requirements through tailored, time-critical and end-to-end logistics solutions.

Responsibilities

Operational Process:

  • Monitoring the quality of the services provided and checking through customer feedback.
  • Requesting ad hoc rates from the accepted suppliers (indicated by management).
  • Booking freight and archiving documents in the shipment tracking system (eSea).
  • Monitoring track and trace shipments.
  • Coordinating solutions if problems during the shipment occur.
  • Review and follow up that correct information and documents are provided by suppliers and client.
  • Coordinates with agents to ensure compliance with requirements associated with the import and export of goods.
  • Maintaining contact with vendors and customers during the operational process.
  • Register operational deviations in irregularity register.
  • Applying the procedures of the quality and environmental management system (ISO).
  • Ensuring high productivity, high quality of service and customer satisfaction.
  • Supporting the delivery of offshore and project logistics solution to our clients, including oversized, complex and time-critical shipments.

  Contributing to commercial growth of Marinetrans (sales) through:

  • Requesting ad hoc rates with the aim of improving prices.
  • Priority given to new customers after consulting with your manager.
  • Supporting Sales with knowledge about rates and logistics knowledge.
  • Introducing prospects and leads to sales. Identifying growth opportunities with existing customers.

Performing administrative work:

  • Prepare files for invoicing correctly and in accordance with the time frame.
  • Checking the files, correct and complete file for administration.
  • Follow procedures for Debtors and Creditors requests.

 What this role is not:

  • Not a commercial role — you are not directly responsible for winning new business but only managing client relationships.
  • Not a local role — whilst you will sit in a local office, the scope is global, which means early mornings or late calls are part of the job when working across time zones.
  • Not an advisory role — you are expected to identify problems, own the resolution process, and close them out. Reporting a problem without the proposed next step is not sufficient.
  • Not a purely reactive role — the escalation and performance management work is important, but so is the proactive work: building better processes, tighter partner standards, and more consistent regional outcomes before problems occur.

Qualifications

  • Educational and vocational level.
  • Preferably 3 years of work experience in a related position.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Good knowledge of carrier’s portals.
  • Preferably knowledge of air and sea freight, road transport.
  • Preferably knowledge of West African required import regulations.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written); additional European languages are a plus
  • Good planning and organization skills.
  • Customer-focused mindset with excellent communication skills.
  • Quick learner, adaptable, and detail-oriented.
